Palladium is part of the platinum family of metals. It shares the properties of natural whiteness and luster of the parent group. The metal differs in one aspect — it is lighter in weight and less dense.
Here its properties are magnified…the strength of palladium is personified by the open work design and delicate metal work displayed. An Art Deco square shaped top stars a round faceted ruby of .72 carats. The luscious red gem is bezel set with elegant accents.
Although square in configuration, the filigree top is crafted in such a way as to suggest the manner in which a handheld fan opens with overlapping arc. The curvaceous petals are embellished with sixteen diamonds, total weight of .48 carats (H-J color; SI1-2 clarity) and designed to generate a sense of glittery movement.
Another Art Deco feature, the zig-zag or sawtooth shape forms the gallery of the ring. Split shoulders and a slender palladium shank finish the period treasure.
