Just look at that face!
An enamel miniature portrait of a terrier will win your heart.
With charcoal black eye patches and ears, lined with tan, golden peachy tawny cheeks, and the rest furry white, it is a dog to remember.
The head gazes just past you to your right and was painted on a chocolate brown and teal green ground.
It is set in an antique medallion from 1912. Hard to believe that just over 100 years ago, small dog shows, livestock contests, and all sorts of show winners earned sterling silver (sometimes gold) medals.
The front is emblazoned with the words, Batley Agricultural Society, and the year, 1912 all in cobalt blue opaque enamel. Hand engraving frames the convex enamel.
On the reverse, English hallmarks reveal this is sterling and created in 1911.
