This is a warm, sparkling stunner to place on the finger.
Definitely later 18th century, the center cluster consists of a round faceted stone with an extra special frame of fancy cut trapezoids.
It is all about the coloration, and these pastes resemble smoky quartz with their forest browns and rich highlights.
All the stones are set closed backed, foiled beneath, and into silver; note the rounded back, another characteristic of the 18th century.
A split shank of 10k gold mirrors the original style but was added recently.
Historical note: Paste is a mixture of lead and glass to arrive at a sparkling, brilliant material. At this time, all the jewelry and stones (even paste) were hand-cut and worked, although tools were employed.
