Oak leaves, the acorn, and the mighty oak tree are symbols that date back countless years and witnessed through a myriad of cultures.
From the Greeks to the Celts, it is even mentioned in the Bible, and Homer's Odysseus. It even possessed more divine connotations as a medium of communication between Heaven and Earth.
Long a symbol of power and strength as well as wisdom it remains an ideal icon as a talisman for life.
By Krementz, this brooch and watch hanger depicts two oak leaves and an acorn of gold topped by a cultured pearl. An old mine cut diamond decorates the stem.
Each leaf is hand-painted with translucent, iridescent enamels shaded from lemon yellow to spring green.
The watch hanger allows this to be worn as a pendant or ask us to add a hidden bale. From the Art Nouveau era, it is a 14k gold, beautifully realized jewel.
Thank to "The Dictionary of Symbols" by Chevalier & Gheerbrant for information on the oak.
