At just under 30 mm across and 21 mm high, it is an impressive specimen of American turquoise. At 44 carats, there are speckles, linear darker inclusions (most are coloration only), two tan and brown matrix areas, and a few surface incisions.

It is bezel set in 14k gold with minute serrations and a frame of tiny fleur-del-lis designs that possess a beautiful texture and deep coloration. These are interspersed with dainty natural seed pearls and old European cut diamonds.

Deliberate contrast in scale between the massive turquoise and the detail of the surround creates an impressive jewel.

The original watch hanger still graces the reverse and can be used to suspend a charm or pearl. Original to the brooch are the pin stem and safety clasp.
