Story
Luminous 18k yellow gold has been lovingly cherished and caressed for over 120 years.
Dating to circa 1900, this English ring holds a diamond and two natural rubies. Both are set beneath the surface of the gold and within a star pattern.
This work is termed gypsy set, and it is a technique of setting stones which are placed just below the surface of the metal, sometimes with a pattern around their perimeter. In this case, tiny stars emphasize the centers.
Not only is it beautiful, this lower setting helps protect the gems and diamonds from wear.
A total of .15 carats of rubies, and an old single cut diamond of .04 carats radiates forth from this antique three stone ring. Scrolling curlicues adorn the sides and transition to a plain polished band. In fine condition, it has obviously been treasured.
