Story

Here is one glorious Edwardian 18k yellow gold ring suitable for a woman or man. Tailored and strong, handsome and impressive, an oval cabochon garnet of 6.1 carats is foiled and set closed back in the manner often used back in the Georgian era.

Foiling is a technique used by jewelers to enhance the beauty of a gem or diamond. Typically a thin sheet of metal (foil) is placed at the back to enhance the optical qualities of the stone. Foil can be used to increase color saturation as well as to make the stone more reflective. The warm gold setting with its sweeping curves and gentle lines suits the 12 mm by 10 mm gem. A full set of English hallmarks gives you insight into the history of this period ring.

Important: Foiled jewelry should not be exposed to water for any extended period of time nor soaked in any other liquid and avoid steam or ultrasonic cleaning.
