Story

Typically unrecognized, the spinel is an amazing gemstone. Relatively rare and found in a variety of colors, it often has been mistaken for other gems such as a ruby. Here the elusive gem in its pink form has been put to stellar use. Shaped into a 1.90 carat emerald cut, the rose and orchid pink hues come alive. The 18k white gold mount is a monument with two stepped surrounds each in an octagonal configuration and set with forty-six (46) white and sparkling single cut diamonds of a total estimated .46 carats (H-J color range; SI1 clarity) of glittering dazzle. Carat weight of diamonds set within the split shoulders is included within the total.

Date: Circa 1950.
