Story

The teardrop form is one of the most flattering earrings for every face shape. Feminine and elongating, its outline compliments the curvature of the face and ear. Platinum is the canvas which conveys that open work delicacy and diamonds are the subject.

Eight (8) old European cut diamonds are dotted about the surface. Each of the largest diamonds is a 1/4 carat (.25 carats) of glitter. All in all, .60 carats of white, brilliant diamonds work in harmony within the setting. The color range is I-J, clarity VS2-SI1. Total weight for the pair is an estimated 1.2 carats.

Did you know the old European diamonds were used primarily from the very last part of the 1900s to the 1930s? They have a round perimeter and an open culet. A culet is the bottom most tip of the diamond and when it is "open" rather than coming to a perfect point at the bottom tip, there is a tiny flat area. With close observation or magnification, this reads like a little dot when looking down from the top of the diamond. Just as brilliant as our modern diamond, often their personality and fire outshine its modern cousins.

Date: Circa 1920.
