Story

Mining influencing fashion? Indeed it does. When mines open or new gemstones are discovered designers, jewelers, fashion and the populace follows. In the late 19th century Russia was the place to be as a mine was discovered which brought us the elusive demantoid garnet. Of a vivid grass green hue, the mine produced these glamorous gemstones for only a few short decades and then was closed down. Other mines in Russia had and still have small production as well as Namibia and a few others.

Here we have a round faceted gem of an estimated weight of .32 carats that is set in a tailored mount of 18k yellow gold. This demantoid garnet even has that coveted horsetail feather inclusion a common sign of its origins in the Ural Mountains of Russia. Two (2) brilliant cut diamonds (total estimated weight of .16 carats) join in the fun.

Date: Modern estate.
