Story

Pendants from the early 1800s were usually of cruciform design. Equally at home as a fashion statement and as a sign of devotion, the configuration of the cross was as varied as the materials used to craft and adorn it.

Hand made two-part hinged construction characterizes this typical silver and rose gold back pendant in the form of a Latin cross. The body of the pendant is set closed back with magnificent deep royal purple amethysts in silver collets. It is suspended from a hinged surmount or bale consisting of a square set amethyst within a flow of beautiful silver C-shapes forms in an elaborate scrollwork pattern. Accenting the very vividly colored gemstones with a sparkle all their own are five (5) tiny rose cut diamonds.

Date: Early 19th century.
