Story

Roman or Lombardic capital letters in Norman French were used during the 13th and 14th century, although some have been found well after that date. Black enamel in the engraving was favored through the 17th century and into the early to mid 18th with those later rings often being rounder in profile. Afterwards the profile again flattened out and the poesy inscribed in italicized script.

Adding to the history and mystery, this wide and august 18k yellow gold poesy ring was excavated from the earth in the United Kingdom. Engraved to the interior in Roman capital letters is “be faithful and loving”. Very rare and even more remarkable, is that the original black enamel still remains intact within parts of the poesy.
