The fringe necklace rose in popularity in the mid 19th century inspired by those of classical Grecian and Roman antiquity that had been uncovered in archaeological digs. Even up until the turn of the 20th century, they were considered the height of fashion and no wonder for their feminine, graceful and intricate designs flattered the female neck and brought light to the countenance.
Scarce in this gemstone, seventy six oval faceted fine aquamarines are arranged in graduated drops both in size and length. All set in 15k yellow gold, and suspended from a rolo chain, each sends forth soft, pale luminous blue hues.
Each aquamarine is nestled within a crown style setting and between is knife edge gold. Lying beautifully on the neck, it doesn't tangle and remains flat and positioned as it should.
Weighing in at a total of 16.5 carats, each one sparkles with a morning sky blue sheen that picks up every subtle movement that you make. The chain length is 16 1/2 inches finished with an engraved barrel clasp and safety chain.
Note: The aquamarine color is closest to those images shown on a model.
