Beautifully appointed, this circa 1890's piece of jewelry is versatile for it may be worn as a brooch, as a hatpin, or as a hair ornament.
Utilizing the theme dragonfly in flight, this is placed within a crescent moon, The dragonfly trembles and is set with two emeralds, a garnet and two natural freshwater seed pearls.
Composed of two colors of 14k, the wings are in yellow and the rest in rose. The hatpin as well is created in rose gold, the hair pin top is gold, the pin as metal. This typically allows for more strength.
A thin sheet of gold was artfully twisted and shaped into the moon design. Tiny screws may be added to the brooch to allow for the transformation to hair or hat pin.
Nestled within its original box maroon silk and velvet, the exterior is brown leather. Intricate gold tooling covers the edges of the interior and outside.
