Story
Referred to as a spinner or spinner fob, these chunky pieces of jewelry are created with various attachments to allow the gemstones to spin.
Originally these were suspended from chatelaines or watch chains, but today they make superb pendants layered or by themselves. Beautifully constructed of gold over metal (the most common base for many of these), a three sided clear rock crystal quartz rotates on the frame.
At the edges and ends, faceting allows an interesting contrast to the highly polished flat surfaces of the rock crystal.
Note the intricate work embellishing the frame with its deeply carved scrolls and floral forms. Considered a trademark of many English pieces of the 19th century, similar motifs can be found on jewelry from rings to bracelets and everything in between.
