Story

Founded in 1902, the Cocker Spaniel Club of Britain awarded their prize winning dogs with sterling silver medals. It was a common practice for many sports, animal and pet competitions and seems a lavish token by today's standards of mere ribbon and cloth.

A weighty and scarce medal, the cocker spaniel has many a devoted fans past and present. The front of the pendant shows in relief a standing English cocker spaniel facing left on a patch of ground. Above reads, "Cocker Spaniel Club" and beneath "Founded 1902".

The reverse is hand engraved, "R.C. Show 1928, Club Red Cup, Won by Bethersden Amber". Surrounding it is raised silver is a victory garland with bow at the bottom.

It is fully hallmarked for the year 1927 and from the maker J.A. Restall.
