SPECIAL MARKDOWN!
Here is a most fantastic pair of antique Victorian earrings which look as though they came out of a fairy tale about a princess.
The design is a basket of eggs. Charming in composition and masterful in craftsmanship, strips of 14k yellow gold have been made to resemble a woven hand basket. Even the handle has been wrapped in gold wire to simulate the container.
Natural freshwater drilled pearls have been wired to the center of the basket to represent the morning’s gathering of freshly laid eggs. A dome of the same type of pearls has been set in a surmount of yellow gold with a perimeter akin to the handle of the basket, wrapped gold wire.
Whimsy and character galore, these earrings represent a type of mid-Victorian earring similar ones featured on pages 102 - 103 in the reference book “Earrings from Antiquity to the Present” by Mascetti & Triossi.
