Story
The locket is the perfect vehicle for utilizing the tenets of the Art Nouveau style. This movement employed a trinity of themes: nature, fantasy and the female form.
Here a slide locket of 14k yellow gold features a profile of a woman coiffed with a typical hairstyle of the late nineteenth century. Draped in a gown of silk, her look takes on that of the femme fatale caught within wild irises with twists and turns of dynamic energy awaiting release.
Four antique diamonds, total weight of .28 carats (I-J color; SI1-2 clarity) appoint the languid foliage. To the reverse a hand engraved ornate monogram, a script M and possibly a B or E is centered and surrounded by nature’s bounty.
