Story
A quintessential motif of the late 19th and early 20th century is the pansy. Given as a token of love, this flower came to represent the phrase “thinking of you”.
Here it is manifested in the form of a silver and vermeil (gold over silver) pendant brooch. Realistically rendered in hand painted enamel colors of purple, white, yellow and black, details such as delicate veining are carefully executed.
Well balanced symmetry joins a harmonious composition of elements in homage to the balance of nature. Versatile construction allows the dual function of the piece as either a brooch or as a pendant with both brooch fittings and a fold-down bale to the reverse.
