One of the characteristics associated with Art Deco is that of contrast. Often the use of black onyx and the gleam of diamonds gave a bold approach to the geometric formalized shapes of the era.
Accented with a centered round brilliant diamond in a collet of 14k white gold, a lozenge form of black onyx with cut-off corners rises above the rectangular base. Single cut diamonds fill the corners with shimmering rays. The five (5) diamonds have a total estimated diamond weight of .20 carats all white to the eye. An open-work 18k yellow gold under gallery, divided shoulders and smooth shank finish this vintage bauble.
Date: Circa 1930.
