Seven Ages of Man Sterling Bangle
This particular hinged bracelet of open work design is just remarkable in its motif. The front half is a series of seven panels with each one illustrating the significant periods in the life of a man. Beginning with a babe held in the arms of his mother, then a lad, a working man, a warrior, an established gentleman quite portly, a man walking with a cane and finally, a frail man seated. The other half of the bracelet is replete with open work panels of birds and flora.
The perimeter of the sterling bracelet is castellated and is appointed with sterling orbs. Attention to detail is marvelous and precise workmanship is apparent. The period piece is finished with a concealed tongue and groove box clasp. When do the words, you will never see another, truly apply? Shakespeare would be proud.
Date: Circa 1880.
Measurements: 6-1/2 inches (16.5 cm) in length by 1-3/16 of an inch (3.0 cm) in width. Will fit a wrist of about 7 inches or less. Weight of 38.7 grams (24.9 dwt).
