Story
Once an essential personal object in the 17th through the 19th centuries, the vinaigrette served a need no longer so relevant in modern society.
Fortunately, they were often so exquisitely designed, they can take on a new life as pendants or fobs.
Dating to circa 1820, this superb 18k beauty fuses green, rose, and yellow gold in one breathtaking petite tableaux.
Appropriately, all the leaves and bow are appliqued in green gold. Rose gold touches include raised dots and the stems.
The background, back, and chain are rich yellow gold. On the front, there is a glass turquoise, a real turquoise, and a ruby. Hand pierced, the back is hinged for placement of cotton or wool soaked in perfume.
More flowers, vines, and leaves make up the screen. Atop this is an arch of engraved garland and a flower. Entirely handmade, the vinaigrette and its chain are worthy of placement under glass but are equally fine to wear and admire.
Sniff closely as faint traces of a scent remain. Smaller than many, and thin in profile, it easily transitions to a pendant.
