Unique Victorian Diamond Flower Necklace
This unusual necklace of 14k gold features a series of petite 14k rose gold “barrels” separated by small spaces and threaded over a main chain. At the front a fringe of seven (7) flowerheads of 14k yellow gold tipped with cobalt blue enamel are each interspersed between sequences of ten rose gold barrel links.
The petite fleurs are each kissed at the central high point with a wonderfully deep rectangular cushion cut diamond which ranges in size from .15 to .20 carats and six (6) tiny rose cut diamonds alternating with the enamel dots for a total estimated diamond weight of 1.2 carats. The middle or centermost floral drop has a hook to the reverse to suspend a pendant if so desired. The necklace is finished with a 14k rose gold barrel clasp for security.
Date: Circa 1880.
Measurements: 14-1/4 inches (36.2 cm) in total length. Each drop is 3/8 of an inch (0.9 cm) in length by 3/8 of an inch (0.9 cm) at the widest. Weight of 10.3 grams (6.6 dwt).
Condition: Excellent; a tad bit of wear to blue enamel visible with magnification.
