Antique Natural Pearl Sapphire & Diamond Necklace
Dazzle up a blue streak...with this scintillating necklace of platinum. A natural baroque saltwater pearl is featured embraced by a streak of twelve (12) natural sapphires channel set across the surface. A cap holds twelve (12) glinting rose cut diamonds. Moreover, above is a crescendo of rose and old European cut diamonds. Four (4) of the largest are old Europeans and have weights of .12 carats for two (2), one (1) of .20 carats and one (1) of .25 carats. Rose cut diamonds are set in-between amidst the platinum fittings.
White on white was the favored look of the early 20th century and here we just have a stripe of color to offset its neutral palette. Over 1 carat of shimmering diamonds has a color range from I-J and clarity VS2-SI1 with the largest diamond a J-K color. Timeless, the use of natural pearls with metal and gemstone embellishments harkens back to the time of the Renaissance.
Date: Circa 1910.
Measurements: 15 inches (38 cm) in total length. Dropped portion is 1-1/2 inches (3.7 cm) in length by 7/16 of an inch (1.1 cm) in width (pearl). The pearl measures about 12 mm by 9.9 mm by 8.6 mm. Weight of 8.4 grams (5.4 dwt).
Condition: Excellent; pearl has natural variations to the surface and color with a natural indentation to the reverse.
Note: Diamonds have not been removed from their mounts to preserve the integrity of the setting. All diamond weights have been approximated by measurement and formula and may vary from actual weights. Grading has been done in situ and also may vary if stones are removed.
