Gentle Breeze: Citrine & Diamond Pendant Earrings
A briolette form is a teardrop shapedAnd multi-faceted gemstone or glass bead. Used to convey a sense of delicacy to the piece, this pair of pendant earrings also gives the visual impression of being quite lengthy without the discomfort of excessive weight.
A round faceted citrine surmount is joined to an articulated double lozenge shape set with two (2) old single cut diamonds set in white over yellow gold. Swinging gently as though touched by a mild breeze is a languid briolette of citrine the color of light goldenrod. Topped with a cap of 14k yellow gold each citrine pendant is approximately 8 carats in weight.
Date: Circa mid to later 20th century.
Measurements: 2 inches (5 cm) in length by 5/16 of an inch (0.8 cm) in width. Weight of 7.1 grams (4.6 dwt) for the pair.
Condition: Very good; one minute chip to a briolette visible with magnification; later post fittings.
