Belais Bros. Beauty in a Diamond Sapphire Ring
Jewelry items from the firm of the Belais Brothers of New York have become quite the collector’s treasure. Having developed in the early part of the 20th century the American formula for white gold, the company sprang forth with a number of elegant and finely fabricated designs.
This middle to later 20th example displays the continued preference for boldly colored gems combined with diamonds. Linear geometry is the catch word with the use of four (4) natural sapphire baguettes grouped around a lovely sparkling old European cut diamond of an estimated .15 carats (I-J color; VS2-SI1 clarity) set within a square mount. The lines transform into gently curving shoulders accented with incised patterning. Pierced and open 18k white gold work adds just the right Belais touch to an already smart ring.
Measurements: 9/16 of an inch (1.3 cm) in width and rises 3/16 of an inch (0.5 cm) in height from the finger. Weight of 2.1 grams (1.4 dwt).
Ring Size: US 5-3/4 (UK L; Int. Dia. 16.25; Euro 50.5 mm; Japan 12) and can be easily sized to fit most. Ring sizing information.
