The Grass is Greener - Paste Picture Locket
This is not your great gram’s typical Victorian locket. Marvelously green pastes are so vivid that you might bet the farm that they are emeralds. Set into a base of yellow gold plate or rolled gold, a series of hand-cut trapezoid shaped pastes create an elegant surround for an elevated golden dome. Ornamented with a large natural half pearl center and punctuated by four faceted square pastes, luscious natural half pearls at each compass point provide the perfect note of drama. The original bale is encrusted with matching green pastes and small natural half pearls.
The reverse reveals an enchanting glass locket or hair compartment. Quite deep, the chamber can hold a keepsake or memento beyond the thickness of a photograph. This Victorian locket pendant is striking when worn with a ribbon laced through the bale.
