Lush Antique Diamond & Enamel Ring
Cluster rings have such a bejeweled lushness about them. This Victorian era one in particular incorporates seven (7) old mine and cushion cut diamonds (with a total estimated diamond weight of .90 points) mounted within a setting of 18k yellow gold.
The piece becomes even more lavish with the application of basse taille enamel work which accentuates the drama of the engraved and chased design details in a virtual play of light and shadow. The embellished shoulders are reminiscent of classical Greek columns which gently taper into a smooth and silken gold shank.
Condition: Excellent; light wear to the back of the shank commensurate with age and use.
Measurements: 7/16 of an inch (1.1 cm) north to south on the hand and rises 5/16 of an inch (1.3 cm) from finger. This antique ring has a weight of 5.7 grams (3.7 dwt).
Size: US 8-1/2 (UK O-1/4; Euro 18-1/2, 58.9 mm) and can easily be sized by our jewelers.
Date: Circa 1870
Note: All diamond weights are approximate since the stones were not removed from their mounts to preserve the integrity of the setting.
