Simple Elegance in Antique Diamond Earrings
The late 19th century was awash with new inventions. A standout, of course, was electric lighting and those of the upper crust took full advantage of the new technology. Fashionable balls and late night soirees were no longer solely illuminated by candlelight and the electric bulb now highlighted the refractive qualities of diamonds. Everyone who was anyone wore rows of vertically aligned diamonds from the ears.
Elegance showcases its timelessness in a pair of 18k yellow gold Victorian diamond drop earrings. A linear configuration incorporates four (4) radiant old mine cut diamonds in a simple design of three stones (approximately .07 carats each) suspending a larger cushion cut diamond as pendant. One of these is deeper and a bit wider than the other gem; one with a weight of approximately .54 carats and the other being .35 carats giving a total estimated diamond weight of 1.3 carats for the pair. The colors range from I-K and are VS-SI clarity.

Measurements: 5/8 of an inch (1.8 cm) in length by less than ½ of an inch (0.6 cm) at the widest. This pair of antique earrings has a weight of 2.7 grams.
