Flowering Victorian Whitby Jet Earrings
Idolized for that thick sculptural quality and definitive shapes that are strictly 19th century, Whitby jet jewelry has been prized for over a century by collectors and aficionados.
The three element articulated design consists of a flat-edged open disc surmount suspending a saddle or horseshoe shape which anchors a large rounded lozenge. The perimeter has a modified saw tooth or cog-like edge within which is an appliqué of leaf design and an open work triangle form.
A serrated saw tooth outlines the underside of the pendant drop. Although medium to large in size, the earrings are remarkably light and comfortable on the ear.

Date & Origin: Circa 1880 and is English in origin.
