Georgian Silver Three Sided Fob
Handsome and robust with a large to very large scale, this solid silver three-sided spinner fob has a very clever mechanism. A barrier is raised when the central scepter-like piece is pulled in an upward direction thus enabling the triple-faced base to rotate to reveal one side at a time. All of the matrices are not as yet engraved and are ready to be inscribed with one, two or even three images, cyphers or initials of your choice. This antique fob is substantial in heft and feel with a strong and bold design that is worthy of its girth. The central pull is flanked with a bass clef and wing motif.
Measures 1-1/2 inches (3.8 cm) in total length by more than 1 inch (2.6 cm) at the widest. It is more than 5/8 of an inch (1.6 cm) in thickness and weighs 23.7 grams. The base measure more than ¾ of an inch (2 cm) by 5/8 of an inch (1.6 cm). Hallmarked at the tip with two illegible punch marks. In very good condition with some overall wear; a few tiny surface scratches and one minute nick on a seal edge (see photo). Dates to circa 1790.
