Story
Before the advent of the internet where trends flash around the world in the blink of an eye, the ever-changing universe of jewelry design and fashion was centered in major cities such as Paris or London.
However, an equally important and intriguing variety of jewelry originated in the provincial areas certain many styles lasting for decades or longer.
The design of these lacy hoops is straight out of the 1810 manner of jewelry. During the Napoleonic wars, scarcity of gold placed an emphasis on lightness created to look like more.
Only the hallmarks provide us with the insight that these gold earrings were designed and made about half a century later.
Fabricated in a configuration to the poissarde earring, these 18k yellow gold earrings employ highly polished lozenge shaped panels surrounded by filigree of finely twisted gold wire work of spirals and tendrils.
Original front to back ear wires finish the period piece. Please note the circular stop on the ear fittings preventing them from falling forward or back so they always look as cutting edge as they did over 150 years ago.
