This is one superlative gold, diamond, and gemstone set slide bracelet and even better in person.
Above and beyond the usual, these types of wrist adornments are a classical example of jewelry being reworked to fit changing fashion and sensibilities.
That trend has been part and parcel of the history of jewelry, well, since jewelry was donned to adorn the human form.
Who hasn't seen beads transmuted from one form, reworked into another. Or earrings, one lost, made into a pendant. Often during the 18th century, large suites of jewelry were divided among family members and often parts reworked to fashion smaller wearable types. Unpopular brooches or stickpin, now pendants or rings. The list goes on.
The slide, most often seen during the 19th century, were notable for their ornate additions to chains, that indeed slid up and down to affording versatility.
In the mid 21st century, the slide themselves, removed from their chains, experienced a heyday and were remade to rest on the wrist in grand form. Many of these were taken from older necklaces, but were also created new, to resemble the originals.
This wide and weighty example combines a variety of original slides from various eras and countries including those from the US.
Each one distinct, all are decoration with gemstones, cultured pearls, and or diamonds.Each is threaded into gold chains with glinting, faceted gold beads between employed as spacers. One larger slide has been refitted as a regal citrine-set clasp.
The lines is well arranged for size from larger, so slightly smaller so there is a gradual tapering. Glorious in color and design!
