These feel as good as they look...weighty, silken, and glowing with radiance. Fine, lustrous, creamy white cultured saltwater pearls hail from the renowned house of Mikimoto.
At a total strand length of 23 1/2 inches, each pearl averages 6 mm in diameter. The strand is expertly matched, each pearl chosen for its even coloration. The surfaces are smooth and glossy with a 14k gold ribbon motif safety clasp. Another 3.4 mm pearl adorns the top.
This vintage necklace comes in its original box of deep red velvet, with an interior of cream silk and royal blue velvet. The inside lid is marked in gold with the Mikimoto mark, K. Mikimoto, Inc. and the Japanese as well. Also, Ginza, Tokyo (for the notable shopping area).
Their store is still located in that district, and the largest in the world for the brand.
Graded A to A+, each glows even in shadow or low light. Round, well-matched, and with only tiny blemishes visible with powerful magnification, these live up to the Mikimoto tradition. Find a strand like this today new, not that you can in this length, and they would cost $6850 just for 18" lengths.
Note: Mikimoto no longer owns their own pearl farm and their production is outsourced. So these vintage strands are coveted, as during this era, Mikimoto had full control over their pearl quality.
