If you thought both, then who could blame you? Iberian in origin, likely Spanish, the cushion shaped dome snugly holds the fine emerald in a rub over bezel.
All around raised elements decorate the top with evocative and distinctive designs. Around the perimeter a serrated border defines the edge.
These specific designs are only found during this era and from the Iberian region. So distinctive, they conjure up images of Spanish treasure recovered from sunken ships.
In 18k yellow gold, the setting is slightly puffed on top, with the reverse hand engraved with a six-petaled flower.
The shank or band moves from tripartite elements at the connection to the top, and merges with swirled, wavy designs all around.
