By the notable former firm of J.E. Caldwell, this vintage brooch is entirely handmade. It is modeled after a regal dog's head. Possibly a retriever, hound, or Labrador, the 14k gold surface is engraved with tiny lines to enhance the shading and chiaroscuro, bringing the jewel to life.
A platinum area at the base represents a dog collar, studded with diamonds. The dog's eye that gazes left also sparkles with a diamond.
