A rarity indeed. Exquisitely and finely crafted, this antique micromosaic pendant features two barn swallow birds!
A scarce motif and one The Three Graces has never offered before, this beauty dates to the Victorian period around 1870. Created in 18k yellow gold wash over 15k, it is fashioned in two parts.
A central rectangular panel shows off two birds, each flying in a different direction. Barn swallows are noted for their habit of mating for life, and returning each year to the same nest. The symbolism of constancy and loyalty are evident.
As as that isn't evocative enough, tiny forget me not flowers decorate the original attached bale.
Between the soaring birds are placed tiny flowers. leaves and branches. A soothing palette of earth tones includes brick red, salmon hues, black, white, forest green, and touches of oranges, and light blues.
Patterns, flowers, and designs adorn every surface of this archeological revival. A miniature masterpiece that is exceptional condition awaits it next caretaker.
