With a lapis lazuli base and its silver and gold boar's head motif, this is a fob pendant to remember.
Rarely do antique fobs, or any 19th-century jewelry for that matter, utilize the outstanding deep and mysterious blues of lapis. One wonders why as fine lapis exudes a coloration not found in other semi-precious gems and with its characteristic gold speckles or flecks, it makes it all the more desirable.
Serving as the oval plinth, this boar's head was modeled with realism in mind. From its open mouth, gold tusks, tongue, and snout, to its "fur" and red ruby eyes, it's a little treasure to behold. Likely French in origin, the boar has touches of 18k gold and silver.
Large enough to wear by itself, it can also be grouped with others on a chain.
