Story
Highly inventive and redolent, the inspiration for these 14k gold earrings is based upon two themes, the hand, and the scallop shell.
Designed in two parts, the surmount forms a concave scallop or clam shell that has been enameled in glossy, coal black. Its curved base utilizes texture to reinforce the realism.
Dangling from the top shells, a drop combines a hand resting atop another shell. So realistic, a decorative, ruffled cuff sleeve tops the hand, with touches of more enamel evident. Cupping the shell, the feminine hand even displays tiny fingernails.
Puffy, the clam shell beneath the hand works in incised gold between the ridges. Hollow in construction for the dangle, these Victorian earrings are light in weight, yet look exceptional. One of a kind.
