Story
Portrayed with an exacting eye, this realistic enamel miniature portrait of two horses deserves close examination.
One gray, white horse (Arabian?) and another in chestnut and white are precisely modeled down to minute detail. Eyes and lashes, nostrils, manes, ears and even the bridles and buckles are masterfully painted.
Both animals appear as if they could leap out of the sterling silver frame as they are so realistic. A coal black background compliments both.
A border of silver alternates flattened "beads" with vertically reeded elements and the darkened patina brings forth the patterns perfecting framing the convex oval.
