SPECIAL MARKDOWN - EXCEPTIONAL VALUE!
Kissed by an angel...this scarce Art Nouveau plique-à-jour enamel necklace was inspired by a painting entitled, “Allegory of Love”.
The artist was from the circle of William Adolphe Bouguereau, a French painter, with a similar allegorical, mythological, and romantic style, likely painted around the same time period, circa 1890.
Of note is the remarkably detailed hand-painted enamel. A woman in rapture receives a delicate kiss from an angel or cherub. Also, very notable is the plique-à-jour surround.
Two more wing like elements in moss gray blue hue of enamel rest above the central elements. Tiny vivid blue pastes dot the three sections. A natural freshwater pearl dangles at the bottom.
All in sterling silver, it comes with its original chain and tube hinge. Condition is all important with any enamel, and certainly with stained glass like plique-à-jour. In this necklace, it is in superb condition.
Comes with an antique purple velvet box that may be original to the necklace.
