Story

A theme often used in the 19th century, the convolvulus flower more commonly known as the morning glory, is replete with symbolism.

Each day it opens, each night it closes and since it is a vine, usually refers to the ties that bind people together and the eternal cycle of life.

Its trumpet shape lends itself beautifully to this realistically modeled enamel and gold flower brooch. In 18k yellow gold, diamonds, and a ruby at the bloom end, it is three dimensional and undulating, as real flower petals would.

Old mine cut diamonds, thirty-four in total, embellish the petals and center with two at the stem All in all, they weigh 1.02 carats, shimmering at H-I color, VS2-SI1 clarity.

A pink red ruby and two diamonds and a trailing vine of gold work their way up from the base of the flower. Art Nouveau in date, of note is the realistic shading of the purple and white hues of the flower and they artful curved accents of the diamonds.
