Story
Marsh life is depicted in three panels with reeds, plant life and charming birds in various poses. Possibly marsh wrens, each scene is distinct and hand engraved.
All are bordered by a higher polished area frame. An all over densely filled hand engraved ivy leaf pattern provides contrast to the three vignettes of flora and fauna. Symbolism of the ivy has most often represented loyalty and holding fast to those we love just as the ivy vines cling to a wall.
Dating to 1882 and English in origin, the sterling silver wide bangle bracelet is covered in a light wash of gold, often termed vermeil.
The back is without decoration, with the reverse and interior gilded in gold as well.
