Secret History - Fan Shaped Locket of Gold

Story

Throughout history, hand fans functioned both practically as well as provocatively.

Gender neutral, from Kings to consorts, the use of the fan dates to ancient China and Egypt. While the secret language of the Georgian & Victorian fan seems to be more of a marketing ploy then a true method to convey silent messages, the fan has always possessed allure and status.

In this whimsical 9k gold rendition, a fan shape possesses engraving that decorates both the front and back. Clearly in homage to the real thing, the sticks, ribs and leaves are all demarcated.

Use the upturned arcs of gold near the top, and press them together to open the fan revealing a photographic or memento compartment beneath. Slide the two halves together to hide the secret chamber.

The reverse has nearly the same design but with an engraved cartouche with the former wearer's initials of MR.
