Story
A 14k yellow gold, oval puffy locket regales us with classic Victorian sensibilities of design and construction.
Circa 1870, the front shows off a trompe l'oeil circle that is suspended by a tassel of braided gold. All applied and raised to the slightly convex surface, there are 17 half natural saltwater pearls as decorative elements as well as cobalt blue enamel.
The interior has compartments for two photographs or mementos. The right side has a removable rim or frame; the left side has a permanent rim that allows a photo to be tucked underneath.
In our photograph of the interior, note how the raised pieces are attached - it is always wonderful to see just how these treasures were constructed. A moveable bale allows use with a fine to medium size chain.
