Story
Dormeuse, or sleeper in the French language, is the style of earrings that were constructed with a back-to-front ear wire. Petite in size so that they can be worn day and when asleep, they were popular in the mid 19th to earlier 20th centuries.
Slightly larger than usual, these vintage earrings have more presence than most that are quite diminutive in scale. At 5/8 inches in diameter and with a drop of 15/16 inches, they have a lovely look that dangles just below the lobe.
Of 18k yellow gold, there is visual play between the outer rim of texture, the inner engraved surfaces and the highly polished areas. The center, a flower-like shape, is gypsy set with transitional cut diamonds of a total of .14 carats for the pair. Their color of G-H, and clarity of SII-2, impart a hint of glamour.
