Story

Quintessential Art Nouveau artistry is evident in this signed, lyrical sterling silver slide locket.

From the hand of the Parisian master jeweler Prudent Quitte comes this lyrical slide mirrored locket. Evident from the mark to the bale reverse is his maker's mark.

An embossed chrysanthemum in full bloom is placed amid arcs of leaves and stems for the front area. The bale is also adorned with two six petaled flowers, one front and back and pivots on a pin.

Whiplash curves and bold lines are raised to the reverse.

In the French manner, the locket slides open and reveals a mirror that also reduces. In other words, you can see your entire face within the small beveled vanity.

Historical note: Prudent Quitte worked in Paris on the Rue Notre-Dame-de-Nazareth around 1900 and was known for his fine artistry and sweeping, exquisite designs.
