A noble and elegant antique Victorian pendant blends together the alluring depth and glow of smoky rock crystal with the warm radiance of gold.
The motif of a heart surmounted by a crown dates back to the 16th century when Mary Stuart, commonly known as Mary, Queen of Scots was the queen regnant of Scotland. Adored by her people, the heart is symbolic of love and the crown signifies loyalty and fidelity. The design has continued to be employed through the centuries.
The crown is solid 15 karat gold and is meticulously crafted. The bottom band is embellished with rubies, emeralds and two petite natural saltwater pearls. Fleur de lis rise from the base as do textured arches with applied orbs and the top bale.
The jeweler’s art is evident in every aspect of this piece, in all the textures, detail and skill. The reverse is just as fine as the front. The crown is embedded in a solid rock crystal smoky quartz heart, very three dimensional and sensuous. The feel is silky and heavy, just a pleasure to hold in the hand.
