A border of translucent iridescent enamels encircles this exceptionally large and fine locket of gold.
Enamels in shades of crimson, shamrock green and lemon yellow decorate the perimeter. See-through, guilloche metal work (patterned) peeks through from beneath. Designed in 14k yellow gold, the reverse is as beautiful as the front with added linear engraving and deep, sculptural forms on the edges.
Three petaled flower blooms and curlicues or ribbons of gold are placed between cannonballs or orbs in highly polished gold. Thick rock crystal convex roundels cover both the front and back of the locket.
Flawlessly constructed, there is a hidden hinge and thumbnail indentations to open the pendant. When viewing the reverse, the hinge rests at 3:00 and the indentation to prise open at 9:00.
Weighty and fine, this Victorian masterpiece will hold and display your most cherished photographs or mementos.
