An enamel miniature portrait of a sighthound dog is rendered in whites, grays, ochres, browns and toffee colors against a backdrop of inky ebony. Lifelike and realistic, the hand-painted portrait represents a greyhound, whippet or Italian greyhound.
The exterior of the sterling silver box is completely worked with engine turned, engraved patterns. Wavy lines decorate the sides. The bottom is filled with concentric circles and rippled intricate lines. The interior is plain and highly polished.
